The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is a German university known for its commitment to cutting-edge research and technological innovation. With a diverse faculty and a strong focus on sustainability, KIT plays a pivotal role in shaping the future through its pioneering work in science and engineering. KIT hosts superconducting qubit laboratories, multiple dilution refrigerators as well as necessary microwave equipment for qubit measurement. KIT hosts two cleanrooms, one in each of the two main campuses, including metal evaporators and device post-processing and inspection tools. The KIT relevant expertise includes fabrication and design of transmon and fluxonium qubits, decoherence mitigation, material characterisation for quantum devices, and quantum readout chain design and implementation.
Main tasks in the project
In OSQ+100 the KIT team will focus on coherence and connectivity of next generation fluxonium superconducting qubits. The goal is to implement coherent, multi-loop fluxonium qubits which can be tiled into a surface where each qubit is connected to four neighbouring qubits.
